Patchwork cafe in Port St Mary reopens tomorrow (Wednesday, May 3).
Apart from a lick of paint, everything about the cafe - which closed in September after a period of it being under alternative management - remains the same said owner Rich Ashcroft, who runs the business with his wife Adrienne.
’There is loads of Manx produce, it’s just a newly painted venue. There is the same loaghtan burger, big breakfast and cinema club on Fridays.’
The recipe to Patchwork’s success - in addition to very friendly, high quality service - is the freshness of the ingredients. ’We try to get as short a distance from the field to the plate,’ he said. ’I’m looking at a bag of rhubarb right now that’s from an allotment in Port St Mary.’Their recipes are stored in six ring binders that grow bulkier as more are added. The cafe has won a string of awards such as best breakfast in the island. They have a loyal band of supporters and Adrienne thanked customers and suppliers, past and present.
’We are looking forward to putting the paint brushes down and picking up pots and pans and doing what we do best,’ said Rich.
