Weather watchers based at the Ronaldsway have issued an amber warning.

They say that the areas likely to be affected and mainly above 400ft, as well as western and central parts of the Isle of Man.

The warning is from 3pm today for 24 hours.

The forecast from the Met Office:

Continuing dry for the rest of today, but with mostly cloudy skies and only a few bright intervals. Feeling bitterly cold in the fresh east or southeast winds, with temperatures staying around 3 or 4 Celsius and sub-zero on the hills.

Tonight will stay dry and generally cloudy, the winds will ease later and if any breaks in the cloud develop a slight frost is likely as temperatures fall near to freezing. Then tomorrow the cold but mostly dry conditions will continue, with sunny intervals and a mostly moderate easterly breeze.

Frosty tomorrow night, then the weekend will see bright or sunny intervals and only very isolated wintry showers. Temperatures will stay well below average, with the northeast winds soon increasing fresh to strong.

Jebus! Clear the shelves in your local supermarket, get home and lock your doors. Apocalypse threatens! How many superannuated Govt employees does it take to warn us about what's been happening for thousands of years?

The weather doesn't cause accidents, the idiots not driving appropriately to the conditions are the cause of the accidents! There are too many accidents occurring of late due to moronic drivers not gauging the driving conditions appropriately! Oh and please turn off your fog lights on the front of your car at night time. Not only is it illegal but it's also stupid and dangerous when the visibility is not seriously reduced by actual thick fog.
