Golf clubhouse extension is given the green light

in Planning

Plans for a single-storey extension at King Edward Bay golf club, in Onchan, to house a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, have been approved.

The work will also involve the creation of a private sheltered garden area to be used in conjunction with the use of the previously approved beauty therapy rooms.

The bid (16/01394/B) was submitted by Golf & Leisure Limited, whose registered address is a unit in Balthane industrial estate.

Onchan Commissioners recommended approval of the plan and highways said they had no objection to it.

In the planning officer’s report, it states: ’The proposed extension would not be apparent from the street scene as it is effectively located to the rear of the building.’

It was approved with a condition that before works start, protective fencing is installed.

A bid for the additional use of part of the function room area as beauty therapy rooms was approved in November.

Under that plan, approval was given for internal alterations to form four individual treatment rooms with a relaxation area and designated area for pedicure and manicure.
