A section of the main road in Port Erin could be closed for up to three months for regeneration work.
A road closure order comes into force on Monday (February 6) for the section of Station Road from its junction with Bridson Street to Strand Road to early May until regeneration work is completed.
While the road is being replaced, as part of the regeneration scheme centred on the station, Manx Utilities decided to replace the water main.
Emergency vehicles will have access and shop deliveries are via the lane which runs behind the shops. An alternative route through the village is via Droghadfayle Road, Athol Park and Strand Road or Bridson Street and Bay View Road.
The village’s traders’ association is urging people to continue using the shops and the local authority has issued advice saying there is plenty of parking elsewhere in the village.
